Hello, my name is Amy Mee. I have been teaching elementary art with the Troy School District in Troy, Michigan, for over 19 years. I am proud to say that I had both my elementary and secondary student teaching experiences here as well, and briefly worked as a substitute teacher until I was hired in 2002. I obtained my B.A. in the History of Art at the University of Michigan, K-12 Teacher Certification and the equivalent of a B.F.A. in Fine Art from Eastern University, a Master’s degree in Educational Studies at Oakland University, and an Educational Specialist endorsement in ELL from Wayne State. Altogether, I have taken courses at over seven colleges and universities! I also actively attend professional development opportunities, and have lead art educator workshops as well. I currently live in Troy with my husband and daughter.
Teaching art allows me to share my passion for art with young people. It is truly an honor to be able to guide students to think creatively while also sharing my knowledge of art techniques and processes. I strongly believe that every person is an artist, and it’s my job to help every one of my students see him or herself as an artist too.
